Jim Starlin

Jim Starlin is a legendary American comics artist, writer and creator. Jim began his illustrious career in the early 70’s after a stint in the US Armed Forces. He is best known for his genre changing space opera stories like Marvel’s Infinity Gauntlet Saga and creating beloved Marvel characters Thanos, Drax The Destroyer, Gamora and Shang-Chi. He is also credited with revamping and popularizing some of Marvel’s biggest characters Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock, turning them into some of the most influential and iconic versions. His story The Death of Captain Marvel became the first ever graphic novel published by Marvel in 1982.

Movies based on the Infinity Gauntlet Saga and its protagonist Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) are some of the highest grossing movies of all time with 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War crossing $2billion and 2019’s Avengers : Endgame smashing all box office records Worldwide to become the highest grossing movie in history with $2.78billion. In 2021, Marvel is releasing Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings based on the character Jim created in 1973 with Steve Enegelhart.

In 2021, Jim returned to comics for the first time in many years after an injury caused him to retire from drawing, with Dreadstar Returns, a graphic novel follow up to a wildly popular comic series from 1983 Dreadstar
