Ming-Na Wen

Ming-Na Wen currently stars as ‘Fennec Shand’ on the hit Disney+ series, “The Mandalorian,” and in the upcoming new series, “The Book of Boba Fett.” This was straight off of her seven years as the kick-ass ‘Agent Melinda May’ on Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. In 2019, Ming-Na was named a DISNEY LEGEND alongside Robert Downey and Jon Favreau, amongst others. Excitingly, it was also just announced that Ming-Na will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2022.

Ming-Na Wen first won attention with her touching and critically acclaimed performance as ‘June’ in the feature film “The Joy Luck Club.” She is also well known for her portrayal of ‘Dr. Jing-Mei Chen’ on the hit show “ER.” She also iconically voiced the title role of ‘Mulan’ in the hit Disney film “Mulan,” for which she won an Annie Award. She reprised her roles as ‘Mulan’ in “Mulan 2” and “Wreck It Ralph: Ralph Breaks the Internet,” as well as a well-buzzed about cameo in the live-action film.

Wen received the first contract role for an Asian-American actor in a daytime drama when she won the part of Lien Hughes on “As the World Turns.” Her other television credits include “The Single Guy,” “SGU: Stargate Universe,” “Inconceivable,” and “Vanished.” She recurred or guest starred in “Eureka,” “Law and Order: SVU,” “Boston Legal,” “The George Lopez Show,” “Private Practice,” and “Two and a Half Men.”

Her contributions in animation as a voice actress are too numerous to list. Aside from Mulan, she can currently be heard in Netflix’s “Yasuke” as ‘Natsumaru’ and in “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” where she reprises her role as Fennec Shand. She is also a board member for Pencilish Studios, a newly formed animation film company.

Ming-Na has performed in many theatrical productions throughout her career and was formerly in the Tony nominated Broadway play, “The Golden Child,” written by David Henry Hwang and directed by James Lapine.

This dynamic actress proved she was able to play more than the gentle wallflower in “The Joy Luck Club” when she tackled the roles of ‘Chun-Li,’ the butt-kicking female lead in “Streetfighter,” as well as the romantically frustrated wife ‘Mimi’ in the film “One Night Stand,” directed by Mike Figgis.

Wen has been included in People magazine’s list of the 50 most beautiful people, was named one of the 100 most influential Asian Americans of the past decade and was inducted into the Committee of 100. She cherishes her family time with her husband and their two children.
