Charlie Cox is a British actor best known for his iconic portrayal of Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in Marvel’s Daredevil, The Defenders, and more recently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again. With his compelling performance as the blind vigilante lawyer, Cox became a fan-favorite and helped redefine the standard for superhero television.
Cox began his acting career on stage and screen in the early 2000s, with early roles in The Merchant of Venice (2004) opposite Al Pacino, and the fantasy adventure Stardust (2007) alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro. He gained critical acclaim for his nuanced performance as Owen Sleater in HBO’s award-winning series Boardwalk Empire (2011–2012), which paved the way for his breakout role in Daredevil.
A classically trained actor, Cox studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has also appeared in notable stage productions, including The Prince of Homburg at the Donmar Warehouse and Betrayal in London’s West End and on Broadway.
